July 6th, 2012Out of trainers, into heels and (crumpled) suit and onto a train to London to give a talk to the women’s network at a rather prestigious bank. Maybe they’ll sponsor the expedition or maybe I’ll just get a free crimson leather wallet. Either way I have to say that despite any preconceived images of the terrifying city career women in sharp (ironed) suits, they were all colourful and interesting individuals. The Global Financial Director who spoke after me with great panache, talking of her own career climb in a Man’s world (esp. in finances) but with a laudable steely confidence that belied her line “ not being an Alpha woman”. Certainly made me feel like making a B-line for the ‘Bach Rescue Remedy’.
